JEWISH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2025 – interview with festival director EDDIE TAMIR

The Jewish International Film Festival screens across Australia throughout October, November and December. The program includes several documentaries about seminal Jewish figures including comic Jerry Lewis, authors Elie Wiesel and Art Spiegelman, filmmaker Claude Lelouch, Franz Kafka and Sigmund Freud. It’s 80 years since the end of WWII and several films deal with the Holocaust – The Disappearance of Joseph Mengele, The Eichmann Trial, Riefenstahl. Festival also includes a special screening of Claude Lanzmann’s 8-hour epic Shoah, which celebrates its 40th anniversary. The opening night film is the box office hit Bad Shabbos. The festival also includes Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut Eleanor The Great, which stars June Squibb, and Blue Moon, which stars Ethan Hawke in one of his best performances as lyricist Lorenz Hart. Greg spoke to festival director Eddie Tamir to find out more about this year’s packed festival program.
