BUNNY – interview with JAMES BRANSON
by GREG KING

Written and directed by James Branson, Bunny is set in a post-apocalyptic vision of Australia. The film centres around a young woman (played by Kate Wilson) who is roaming Australia following a post-climate change disaster. The only remaining source of reliable food is other people. The film was inspired by ‘70s and ‘80s Ozploitation and the tropes of modern feminist horror. Bunny has just finished a series of sold out screenings at SXSW Sydney where it won an ASC cinematography award. The filmmakers have been on a limited run around Australia cinemas over the last month. The film has received a great response from audiences and reviewers. As Branson plans another series of screenings at independent cinemas in early 2026 James joined Greg King on Movies At Dusk to talk about the film.
