Phil Keoghan is best known as the host of the tv series The Amazing Race in which he sends contestants off on adventures. In 2013 he embarked on his own grand adventure, in which he and his friend Ben Cornell attempted to recreate the original route of the 1928 Tour de France. The 1928 Tour was one of the most gruelling in the sport’s history, and only 41 of the 161 starters finished the race. Amongst the riders who finished were Australian legend Hubert Opperman, Ernie Bainbridge, Percy Osborne and New Zealand rider Harry Watson. Combining a wealth of archival footage Keoghan and Cornell retrace the 1928 route for this documentary. Greg spoke to Phil Keoghan to find out more about the challenges in putting the film together.
