WOLFRAM – interview with WARWICK THORNTON
by GREG KING

Wolfram is the latest film from award winning indigenous filmmaker Warwick Thornton. It stars Thomas Wright, Deborah Mailman, Joe Bird, Matt Nable, Pedrea Jackson. The film is set in the Hatches Creek wolfram mining field in the Northern territory and it explores how aboriginal children were exploited for their labour and mistreated. The film also operates as a sequel to Thornton’s 2017 film Sweet Country. The film had its premier at the Adelaide Film Festival in 2025 and hits cinemas in April. Greg spoke to Warwick to find out more about the film, casting the film, and his love of the old Hollywood westerns.
