Interview with ANJANA VASAN by GREG KING
Based on a true story and set in the small town of Littlehampton in the 1920s, Wicked Little Letters tells the story of how a woman named Edith Swan received a number of nasty letters filled with obscenities. Suspicion fell on her neighbour Rose, a free-spirited single mother. The film stars Olivia Colman, Timothy Spall, Jessie Buckley and Anjana Vasan, who plays a female police officer who investigates even when warned off by her superiors. The film is a comedy that also looks at some of the values and attitudes towards women in the 1920s. Greg spoke to Anjana Vasan about the film, her character, working with stars like Colman and Spall, and winning an Olivier Award.
