Set against the backdrop of the Sydney art scene, The Set is the world’s first mainstream LGBT film. It was controversial when first released in 1970 because of its uncompromising look at teen sexuality and homosexuality, which was still illegal back then. The Set was based on the novel of the same name written by Australian actor Roger Ward (who has appeared in classic films like Mad Max, The Man From Hong Kong. The Set is now available on DVD for the first time in 50 years. Greg spoke to Roger Ward about the making of the film and its controversial themes.
