2017 sees the fourth Setting Sun Short Film Festival. This is the largest short film festival in the west and this year promises to be the biggest year yet in the festival’s short history. It is a filmmakers’ film festival and provides Maribyrnong and the western suburbs with its own short film festival. It promotes the large film making community living in Melbourne’s western suburbs and recognises excellence in the craft of film making. There are three main categories for films to be entered:
western suburbs: comprising the bulk of awards to be given to filmmakers submitting films who live in the west OR don’t live in the west but have shot their film here
metropolitan: comprising all films not shot in the west or by westie filmmakers
open: Animation, Best Acting Performance overall, People’s Choice.
The best films submitted will form the basis of the festival. They will screen at the iconic Sun Theatre in Yarraville over a period of four days, 27-30 April 2017. The festival has been created by Anna Bourozikas.
Greg spoke to Anna about the festival and these special screenings.
