PURE SCUM – interview with GIDEON ARONI

Pure Scum is a gritty low budget drama shot guerilla style, and at nights, on the streets of Melbourne. It follows Ayden and Jesse, two recent high school graduates, on a night fuelled by drugs and alcohol. After they are involved in a hit and run accident, the pair flee the scene, they make a number of bad decisions which leads them into the darker underbelly of the city. The film marks the debut of writer/director Gideon Aroni. It stars Will Hutchins, best known for his role in the series Single Out, and newcomer Nikita Chronis. Greg spoke to Gideon about the origins of the film, the challenges of the shoot, the casting process, and the involvement of legendary filmmaker Fred Scehpsi.
