Celebrating 30 years of queer film, the Melbourne Queer Film Festival serves up a packed program of queer films, documentaries and shorts from around the world. The opening night film is the powerful documentary Gay Chorus Deep South tracing the San Francisco Gay Men’s Choir on a tour through America’s south, which shows the positive effects of the power of music to bring about change. Closing the festival is Bit, which has been described as a queer take on 80s classic vampire tale Lost Boys. The festival runs from March 12-23, with screenings at the Capitol, the Jam Factory and the Nova. Greg spoke to program director Spiro Economopoulos to find out more about this year’s screenings.
