The Melbourne International Film Festival runs from August 2 through to August 19, with an eclectic program of films both local and international. The programming team have sourced award winning films from some of the world’s best film festivals. The opening night film was Wild Life, the directorial debut of actor Paul Dano. There is a special section on African Film Rediscovered, the Fashion X Cinema program, a diverse section of Australian cinema and Premier Fund films, a retrospective of Italian crime films from the 60s and 70s, shorts programs, talks, visiting guests, and of course the 12-hour Nic Cageathon at the Astor Cinema. Greg catches up with assistant artistic director Al Cossar for a chat about the massive program on offer for 2018.
