by GREG KING
Continuing our coverage of the 2020 Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, which screens online from June 20 – July 15, Greg talks to filmmaker Katrina Channells about her documentary Leaving Allen Street. Shot over the course of a couple of years, the fly on the wall documentary follows a group of intellectually disabled adults as the move into residential accommodation after years of institutionalised care. Katrina chats about the origins of the film, the process of editing down the footage, and what she hopes audiences take away from the film.
