Gary Hamilton’s career in the arts and entertainment industry spans over 30 years. He has played a pivotal role in launching the careers of such international superstars as Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Baz Luhrmann, Hugh Jackman and Heath Ledger. In 2002, Hamilton founded Arclight Films, one of the world’s leading independent film sales companies, which has produced films such as Wolf Creek, Predestination, and more. His latest production is the adventure Jungle, which is based on the true story of Yossi Ghinsberg, who spent three weeks stranded in the Amazon jungle. The film has been directed by Greg McLean and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Alex Russell and was filmed in Colombia, Bogota and Queensland. The film opened the 2017 Melbourne International Film Festival. Greg spoke to Gary about his career, and the challenges of shooting this film on location.
JUNGLE screens at MIFF at 6.30pm on August 11 at Hoyts; 9.30pm on August 17 at the Comedy; and at 4pm on Saturday August 20 at the Kino. Greg McLean will be in attendance at those sessions for Q&As after the screenings.
