Screening at Palace Cinemas in September is the 15th Italian Film Festival, which will premiere 34 show-stopping new features and documentaries plus one glamorous classic, showcasing the charisma of Italy’s most engaging actors. The opening night film is Marina, while the 1964 classic Marriage Italian Style, starring Sophia Loren, will close the Festival.
This year, the selection of contemporary Italian cinema features four categories – Direct from Cannes, with three features direct from the world’s most prestigious film festival; Drammatico Italiano including the best contemporary films produced in Italy in the last 12 months; Laughing Italian Style for the funniest, craziest and silliest Italian comedies including a popular cinepanettone title; plus Elementary Loves, a family film for younger audiences.
And Italian actress Nadir Caselli, who appears in two films, will be attending to introduce her films and participate in Q&A sessions.
To find out more about this year’s program, Greg King spoke to the Festival Director Elysia Zeccola-Hill.
