The German Film Festival screens at Palace Cinemas across Australia in November. There are some 25 Australian premieres, with a mix of features and documentaries, and a retrospective featuring a handful of films from the 70 year history of the former East German Film Studio DEPA. The opening night film is Fatih Akin’s coming of age tale Goodbye Berlin, and the festival closes with a rare screening of the 1925 silent film Variete. Greg spoke to festival director Sonja Griegoschewski to find out more about the screenings.
