Freedom Stories is a new documentary looking at the lives of a number of refugees who spent time in detention centres in remote locations, and who have built new lives in Australia.
Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide and Perth television audiences will have the opportunity to watch this important documentary on their local community free-to-air station in early December. Directed by Melbourne filmmaker Steve Thomas it features the moving, personal stories of former ‘boat people’ who now call Australia home.
Despite wide acclaim and popular demand, neither ABC nor SBS have seen fit to screen FREEDOM STORIES and so community TV has stepped in. In Melbourne it will screen on Channel 31 Sunday 4th December at 7.30pm.
This feature documentary premiered at the 2015 Sydney International Film Festival and has been shown at international festivals as far apart as Canberra and Harlem. It has made many metropolitan and regional cinema and community appearances, including over 200 community and school screenings nationally during Refugee Week.
