CHILDREN’S INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2025 – interview with artistic director THOMAS CALDWELL

The 7th Children’s International Film Festival screens at the Lido, Classic and Cameo cinemas in Melbourne and the Ritz in Randwick, Sydney from June 7 and runs through till July 20. This year’s program features several films from the SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival, a children’s film festival held annually in the German city of Chemnitz. The 2025 CHIFF program features 19 premiere films, handpicked from world-class film festivals all over the world. The festival also includes screenings of both Joe Dante’s Explorers and Tim Burton’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, which celebrate their 40th anniversary. Greg caught up with the festival’s artistic director Thomas Caldwell to find out more about what’s on offer in this year’s festival.
