Beatriz’s War is a film set against the backdrop of the Indonesian invasion of East Timor in the mid 70s. The plot takes the classic French story The Return Of Martin Guerre and resets it against the backdrop of war and the atrocities committed. Beatriz’s husband Thomas returns to their village after the war, but she declares that he is an imposter. This is the first feature film shot in the Timorese language.
For his Movies At Dusk program, Greg King spoke to the co-director Luigi Acquisto to learn more about this movie.
