After the pandemic of 2020 saw cinemas closed and many film festivals go digital, JIFF was motivated to ensure that 2021 festival was an in-cinema experience. This year’s program explores a spectrum of politics and religiosity, with a line up of documentaries and dramas including many Australian premier screenings. The opening night film is the drama Incitement, a gripping drama about the 1995 assassination of PM Rabin.

The festival screens at the Lido and Classic Cinemas in Melbourne from Feb 17 through to March 16; in Sydney at the Ritz Cinemas from Feb 18 through to March 17; in Perth at the Luna Palace from Feb 18 through to March 3; in Brisbane at the New Farm Cinemas from Feb 18 through to Feb 28; and in Canberra from Feb 17 through to Feb 28.

Greg speaks to the festival’s artistic director Eddie Tamir to find out more about the 2021 JIFF program and looks at some of the highlights.
